I’m seeing a lot of things online about him being a far right conspiracy theorist who thought the Jews did Covid and that’s why he refused the jab and that’s just not true. He was open about his reasoning and it was honestly just bodily autonomy. He did not believe the government had the right to tell him he had to get this vaccine so he refused it and got kicked out of the military because of that choice
The legacy media narrative of the 20 September 2026 shooting outside Belleville’s Sons of Jacob Synagogue has quickly solidified. Within two days the country was told that Sean Ward was an unhinged right-wing conspiracy theorist. Reports asserted that Ward had blamed Jews for COVID while still in the army1 and linked his release for asserting his bodily autonomy with the synagogue shooting.2
The reprinted claim that Ward blamed Jews for COVID seems to be based on an amplified single unnamed source in a Global News story being conflated with comments Ward made more than 4 years after he was released from the military.
Except that a group of former colleagues, who identified themselves and who have been verified, say they never heard that talk from Sean Ward in uniform. These sources are protected as they could face retaliation for going on the record.
Q: The legacy media are all putting out the same narrative that he said Jews were responsible for Covid. Did you hear him say this?
A: He never explicitly said Jews were responsible for covid. I think him being anti vax and hating Jews are two separate issues.
My sources described Ward as a “Quiet farm boy,” and a “Really good soldier.” One said, “Everyone thought highly of him,” and described him as an excellent marksman3, an outdoorsman, quick to smile, and, “Not very confrontational.” Another told me about Ward and explained that he was fair with the younger recruits.
Q: Did Ward express Jew hatred in the forces or did this develop later once he was released?
A: I would say that was a more recent development since it wasn’t really in the news in 2022. After the October 7th attacks that became a prominent thing in the news and anti Jew rhetoric really picked up.
Ward was recognized as one of the best individual marksmen in the entire Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) at CAFSAC in 2019.4 He was a young man who had found his stride, loved what he was doing, and was good at his job.
I think everyone should just be forthcoming with the facts. Like time and time again they get the narrative wrong on limited facts and then no one ever follows up with the truth
In 2022, Ward was a hardworking and steady young soldier who was willing to die for his country. He did not fit the profile of a man who would critically wound a police officer in an attempt to carry out an anti-Semitic terrorist attack against two dozen innocent Jewish parishioners at a Yom Kippur worship event. He did not fit the profile of someone with a heart filled with anger and nothing to lose.
Q: Is the coverage accurate?
A; Nobody’s perfect but saying he blames Jews for Covid is wrong… and saying he’s a Mossad agent or a Manchurian candidate is also insanity.
So what happened?
DND has been explicit, both in emails and over the phone, that privacy laws surrounding Ward’s release preclude any discussion of his release and his medical records.
However, three sources confirmed to me that they believe that Ward received an 5F release due to his refusal to take the unauthorised novel Covid-19 therapeutics. An 5F is a military release which is categorised as “Unsuitable for further service.”5
An 5F release is a prejudicial discharge which is a permanent stain on a soldier’s employment record. Members under an 5F classification generally lose entitlement to Canadian Forces Severance Pay (CFSP) under Compensation and Benefits Instructions (CBI) 204.40.
Independent reviews, such as those by the Military Grievances External Review Committee, eventually found that a 5F release on the basis of not taking Covid-19 therapeutics violated members' Charter rights.6
Critics, legal experts, and internal reviews highlighted obvious alternative routes the military could have taken. There were humane options for handling non-compliant members (without firing them) while maintaining the force protection that was alleged to be achieved by taking an experimental pharmaceutical product which did not prevent transmission of Covid-19.7
The missing years
Ward joined the military in 2017, when he was 20-years-old. When he was released five years later, he found himself unemployed, lacking a university degree, saddled with a tarnished résumé, and competing for work amidst an economic recession.
I never interacted with him after he left the military-but the sort of radicalization that led him to commit the crime, to me, would have had to have come after his time in the Army
Military peers usually become a close-knit surrogate family for young men away from home. The transition left Ward cut off from what had become his support system. His hopes of finding steady work in the oil patch fell through. Consequently, he returned home to Quinte West around 2024 and had to move in with his mother.
For a stretch Ward went dark on social media. His former colleagues were wondering about him. During the summer of 2026, he posted images of himself on a tractor and working on a farm. He was pouring concrete and helping on a farm. It was good to see and he seemed all right they thought. Happy, even.
But the wheels were falling off.
I spoke with him a week ago and he never said anything hateful. He just said he couldn’t do anything because of his 5F release. Sean’s one true passion was his service and being a soldier
On 11 September 2026, Ward posted a Snapchat story about Epstein and Jews which a source sent to me. The snapchat stated, “Friendly reminder that not a single Jewish boy or girl was ever on Epstein island, happy 25th anniversary of idiocrazy.”
Around this same time, media reports linked him to an attempt to use a video game username that combined an anti-Jewish epithet with the word 'killer'.8
Only nine days after the Snapchat post, on 20 September, 2026, Ward attempted to carry out a terrorist attack at the Sons of Jacob synagogue. His efforts were thwarted by an on-duty officer tasked with protecting the synagogue-Constable Jeff Smith.
Before Ward began shooting, as reported by Chief Murray Rodd of Belleville Police Service at a 24 September, 2026 press conference, he shouted the chilling words, “You’re going to die for the Jews!”9
Was Sean Ward always on a path to terrorism?
Both DND and the regiment were contacted for comment about Ward’s service and release. As of publication, neither had answered.
Most coverage of the attack has focused on a late burst of Ward’s anti-Jewish rhetoric and understandably on the events of the night itself. But the four-year interval between his release from the military and the terrorist attack contains information that helps to understand what made Ward vulnerable to being radicalized.
Ward’s release collapsed the structure he thrived within:
So take a guy like Ward, who needs a place like that, and then kick him out for some woke pandemic BS and this is what you get
There’s no safe haven for a guy like Sean Ward in 2026
James Choi, William Seniuk, and Nathaniel Burchat are not Sean Ward.
None of them expressed Jew hatred, nor did they plan or execute a failed terrorist attack. Choi, Seniuk, and Burchat instead exemplify what 3 PPCLI and the force have done with junior ranks:
Choi dies in a fatal live-fire training accident with questionable design. The friendly-fire charges are dropped.
Seniuk, dead at 27, buried at the Edmonton garrison. Peers describe decline and seizures.
Burchat, medically released after seizures and a collapsing psychiatric file, is then beaten to death by a cellmate in the Edmonton Remand Centre.
Ward is the failure that became an international headline. But the other men represent an institutional pattern. Is there systemic neglect within 3 PPCLI?
Corporal James Choi

Cpl. James Choi was 29, a reservist with the Royal Westminster Regiment, attached to 3 PPCLI for fall continuation training. On the night of 30–31 October 2020, on a live-fire serial at CFB Wainwright, he was shot and killed.10
National Defence confirmed the death and that it happened on a live-fire range. What it has not explained in public is why the exercise was designed as such.
A source described what happened on the range under night vision: The infrared glow sticks on helmets and on the targets looked the same. The source said Choi was shot by another member of the unit, “by mistake of course.” Asked if anyone was fired, the source replied, “They only charged Lars but as you can see those charges were dropped. All the officers who designed the range escaped responsibility and were moved around, as per usual.”
Cpl. Lars Callsen of the 3rd Battalion, PPCLI was initially charged in May 2021 with one count of negligence following the death of Cpl. James Choi.11
An account of the hours after the accident is bleak: Wainwright’s hospital could not treat the wound; a decision was made to send Choi to Edmonton; the receiving hospital was not prepared for a helicopter arriving with a soldier with major trauma from a gunshot wound. Choi died on arrival.
Both DND and the regiment were contacted for comment about Choi’s passing. As of publication, neither had answered.

Choi is a friendly fire incident that appears to have been badly mishandled.12 Seniuk is a man who died at 27, was buried on the Edmonton base, and whose cause of death was never part of the public record.
William Seniuk
William Gerhard Seniuk, born 22 September 1996, died on 31 October 2023 at the age of 27. He was from Vegreville, Alberta. His funeral was held at CFB Edmonton on 15 November 2023 at the Chapel of St. Luke and St. John at Lancaster Park. The family asked that memorial donations go to the Veterans Food Bank in Edmonton.
Soldiers who knew the Edmonton infantry environment say Seniuk was an infantryman who deteriorated following the heartbreak of losing a first-degree relative. One described a severe personal crisis, including seizures visible to peers.
William had a seizure in front of me during a parade rehearsal.
A military parade is a highly-coordinated event where soldiers march together. Sometimes there is a band and military aircraft also fly overhead and/or military vehicles drive by. Military officers should be present at parade rehearsals.
If the chain of command wasn’t aware of Seniuk’s deteriorating health, why weren’t they?
Seniuk’s obituary confirms his death, age, the funeral arrangements, and the veterans’ charity request.13
Both DND and the regiment were contacted for comment about Seniuk’s passing and clinical or administrative reviews. As of publication, neither had answered.
Seniuk dies and his story ended in a funeral on the base. Nathaniel Burchat’s death, however, made it into the newspapers… Burchat was medically released, then killed by a gangster in the Edmonton Remand Centre.
Nathaniel Burchat

One thing I will say about the military is in our battalion I know 3 other guys that had schizo/psychotic episodes that required forcible institutionalization.
One of the guys ended up being murdered in jail awaiting a trial... I don’t know whether it’s culturally or institutionally an issue but I do think the army does play a larger role.
Nathaniel Peter Burchat served with the parachute company of 3 PPCLI. After high school, Nathaniel joined the Canadian military. He followed in the footsteps of his father and three older brothers.14
Burchat deployed to the Middle East, including Iraq, with Operation IMPACT. Tragically, Burchat developed seizures and PTSD after deployment.15 He was also described as having developed schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
After his father’s death in October 2023 Burchat’s emotional injuries worsened. Ultimately, he was medically discharged in January 2024 and remained in Edmonton.
Following Nathan’s murder, his brother Gabriel, who was an RCAF member at the time, told Global News, “The transition centre, the Veterans Affairs, nurses, case managers, everyone went above and beyond for him-but there kept coming a point in time when they were limited by what they could do,”16 and “Everyone just ran out of options or how to help him.”17
His brothers visited him in Edmonton after his release. But Burchat’s family still did not know he was being held in remand until after they learned that he had been bludgeoned to death by a career criminal.
On 2 December 2024, Burchat was accused of assault, damaging a cellphone and failure to appear. He was held at the Edmonton Remand Centre, which is notoriously violent.
Remand centres are the Wild West. They are an interim location where the accused are processed and placed before trial or jail. The safety measures which are in place in jail aren’t present. Remand centers are very dangerous places where violent offenders have unfettered access to mentally vulnerable people who belong in hospitals.
On 18 December 2024 Burchat was killed by Kai Keller, a gangster cellmate (who had personally benefited from the ideologically-captured Canadian legal system in the form of revolving justice) with a history of violence. An autopsy found blunt-force head injury and Burchat’s death was ruled a homicide. Kai Keller was eventually charged with second-degree murder.18 Burchat was only 25-years-old.
The CAF did not kill Nathaniel Burchat, but his death was avoidable.
Cultural Collapse, Betrayal Trauma, and Avoidable Tragedy
An independent examination of institutional failure preceding the Belleville incident must happen. 3 PPCLI and the CAF have a record of isolating junior infantry, failing them, and handing them off to civilian life without established support systems.
Young men need community. They also need hope and a sense of purpose. Without any anchors their search for purpose can be weaponized if despair fills the gap.
The congregation at Sons of Jacob and Constable Smith are not a metaphor or collateral in a dispute with National Defence. These were innocent people, cowering inside a place of worship, unarmed, and unknowing whether or not a gunman who they knew had come for them would succeed in entering their synagogue. The CAF didn’t pull the trigger on Yom Kippur-Ward had agency.
However, Ward’s collapse and subsequent radicalisation did not come out of nowhere. The seeds of despair were planted in isolation under pandemic rules, an involuntary release, and a battalion environment that has repeatedly failed junior ranks. Training safety, medical welfare, and post-service care are supposed to be givens for our troops.
The big thing for me was clarifying what I knew to be true about Ward and bringing up the unaddressed serious inadequacies that serving and veterans have regarding their mental health and honestly-a big question I have in that regard, is why are there so many just in 1 battalion?
Choi, Ward, Seniuk, and Burchat did not enter the Canadian Armed Forces as walking casualties or threats. They were young, promising, disciplined infantrymen who were broken by isolation and institutional neglect.
It’s all just unnecessary tragedy and I don’t think the army is the cause of it all, but it does not help
Analyzing the systemic failures that preceded the Belleville synagogue shooting is not minimizing the evil nature of Sean Ward’s final actions. It is only by the grace of God and the bravery of Constables Smith and McCurdy that the shooting didn’t become a mass-casualty attack.
The authorities would be well to be forthcoming if he was radicalized by any particular groups. Treating Ward as a sudden, spontaneous ideological monster, however, allows the institution that discarded him to escape accountability.
Preventing the next public attack will not come from a DND marketing rebrand. It will come from honesty and uncompromising accountability surrounding the institutional contributions to the exercise that killed Choi, the welfare collapse around Seniuk, the post-release murder of Burchat, and the unconstitutional release of Ward and so many other soldiers like him who lost everything.
Lives depend on it.
Addendum.
Method and limits. On-the-record facts: SIU and Belleville Police on the 20 September 2026 shooting; DND/CAF on Ward’s service dates, rank, regiment, non-deployment, and June 2022 release; Globe and Mail on the 5F/vaccine-refusal sourcing; DND and Canadian Press on Choi’s death and the dropped Callsen charge (March 2023); Tribute Archive / Autumn Rose on Seniuk’s dates and CFB Edmonton funeral; Edmonton Journal, CBC, and Global on Burchat’s unit, medical release, seizures, remand homicide, the Keller charge, and Gabriel Burchat’s transition-centre remarks. Global News separately alleged in-service antisemitic COVID talk by Ward; three soldiers who served with Ward dispute that and describe the vaccine refusal as a bodily-autonomy stance. Exercise-design details in the Choi serial, Ward’s marksmanship record, and Seniuk’s seizures rest on soldiers in that environment. Cause, manner, and place of Seniuk’s death are unknown in the public file and are not asserted here.

This is an incredibly important piece of journalism. It tells a very true story that if the powers that ought not to be (let's simplify and call it "deep state") hadn't betrayed and attacked its own military and people none of this would have happened. As we personally know all levels of Canadian institutions have been captured and corrupt with no remedy Within the system. We've put more evidence on the record of these crimes than anyone in north America ( www.tgpeacetreaty.com/lsa-grand-jury-summary), and some have been at it since the mid 80's. The good news is that there is an absolutely peaceful and lawful way to stop participating with the deep state. Law of war manual section 12.4 and 15.6 are the remedy during a wartime situation/continuity of gov't. 🏳️ Www.tgpeacetreaty.com/parley 🏳️
Thank You Natasha for writing this and exploring the events occurring in the background of these young men.
The hopelessness that Ward was feeling resonates with me. I have a son, who had suffered 2 concussions in highschool. He began University in 2018. Still struggling with memory issues, anxiety, depression and brain fog from his concussion that had occurred in the months previous.
Then cam along Covid- the uncertainty, possible highway closures etc. We brought him home from the Uni that was 4 hrs away. We didn't want him isolated. That was March 2020.
Then came the online university for a year. Devastating for many students, but particularly for those taking subjects that required hands on learning/ labs like my son, enrolled in Biology/Ecology.
Then, finally the mandated jabs to attend school on campus. He didn't want them. He held out to the last possible moment. He was uninvited to hang with friends due to his vaccine status.
His sister had been hospitalized for 3 days, years previous from a flu vaccine.
He saw no future without c19 vaccine. No education, no jobs, no friends and even my family had told us we were no longer welcome.
He did take the shot. He went to the hospital both times afterwards, with chest pains and racing heart. Numbers seemed ok- praying it was just anxiety.
What do you think all of these factors would do to a young vulnerable person?
My son was suicidal. I am trained in suicidal intervention. We spent many hours on the phone, sometimes in silence, just so he knew, someone cared.
Our Govt certainly Didn't and Still Doesn't. That was Clear during the Allison Inquiry when so few MP's made the effort to come and listen.
Just the same as they chose not to Listen when people were on the streets of Ottawa Begging our Govt officials, Just to Listen.
I wonder how many more are in the background still dealing with our Govt Actions without Accountability, that are becoming Ticking Time Bombs.
